19-23 March 2017 Farmic Fanatic top leaderboard prize: Envy Dragon

Hello Dragon Ladies and Lords! Welcome to the review of top leaderboard prize in ongoing Farmic Fanattic event: the Envy Dragon. This article will provide you with information about obtaining, potential usage of Envy in battles, breeding and leveling up temples, gold generating and finally, will help you decide if you should try to get it for your own. So, let's start!

Obtaining 

 

Envy's egg

Envy Dragon is top leaderboard prize in Farmic Fanatic event and only ten best players from five thousands player group will get it. This means only 0,2% players will get it in this event! You can increase your chances of getting Envy Dragon in following ways:

• Plant most expensive food you can afford, even if it means running out of gold that you've been saving. Just make sure it will be ready to harvest before the event ends!
• Explore the ruins. There is a chance you will get some food or shard for Chronosian seal.
• Use your Chronos whenever it's ready or the Chronosian seals you have to speed up growing food and exploring ruins
• Activate VIP membership for extra Portal and Arena energy and extra food/gold from battles.
• Try making possibly long win streaks on Arena: start fighting when your Arena energy is full and wait about 19 minutes between battles, so that you keep the streak while your energy is refilling. Be careful not to wait too long, as it would break the streak! You can use Arena Gems that you get at 6 and 12 win streak when needed to keep the streak. This will provide you with some food from streak prize, extra gold and a few gems, and will increase your Arena score. As the ongoing Arena round will end 14 hours before Farmic Fanatic, food from Arena leaderboard prize will count towards your Farmic Fanatic score.
• Battle Vikings as much as possible. Try to complete your daily quest only by "Divide and Reconquer" part of it, so that the side quests get refreshed. Check the "Daily Challenge" and "Dueling Dragons" subquests and remember them, not to finish those unwillingly. Try to progress your campaign map or get back to the fights you didn't finish with 3 stars and improve your score. If you are stuck, hire your friend's dragon. Spend your Portal Gems.
• Make sure you have lots of active friends that will send you gift. Gifts can contain food, Portal Gems (so you can earn more food from battles) or gold (so you can plant more food). Having more friends means also bigger choice of dragons to hire.



Daily Dungeon will help you get extra food

• Battle the Clockwork Dungeon. Each won battle will provide you some food and there is a chance you will get nice amount of food from chest.
• Pay attention to your To-Do List as many of the quests are easy to finish and also provide some food.
• Pay attention to your experience. Leveling up will restore your Arena and Portal energy, so you may want to wait with gathering experience from obstacle clean, building etc. to level up in a right moment to make longer Arena win streak and fight more battles at campaign map.
• If you are about to upgrade your Portal, remember this will also restore your energy.
• Watch some ads to spin Otto Lotto for a chance for food, gold, Portal or Arena Gem and Dragon Fury Essence, which can help you finish the dungeon.
• If you want to spend your gems, think twice and try to figure out most profitable way, which depends on your in-game situation. Buying the food directly from gems will usually provide you with less food than activating a VIP membership and battling the campaign map. Remember that you can refill your Portal energy with gems or buy dragon fury while fighting in dungeon, so try to estimate how much food per gem spent you can get from every source.

Baby Envy Dragon

If you finish the event in top 10, Envy's egg will be placed in your inventory, which is nice, because if you need to build the habitat for him first, or just want to hatch the egg later for any reason, it will not be blocking slot in your hatchery. Once put in the hatchery, it will be hatched in 1 day and 2 hours (21h 12 min for level 2+ VIP members). 

The question is: is Envy Dragon worth all this effort? Let's look through all different aspects of having it to get the answer.

Envy in battles

Having  void as primary element is neither very good nor very bad for a battle dragon. Envy will suffer 150% damage from  plant attacks (and from poison!), so it will have hard time fighting poison-oriented teams. On the other hand, it will only recive 50% damage from wind and void attack, which both have skills taking effect on attacks. In my personal opinion, as plant is much more offensive element than wind and void, you shouldn't pick envy to your primary battle dragon team.  

Adult Envy Dragon

Total set of Envy's element is rather average: . Void element allows him to make 150% damage to energy dragons and heal himself a bit, plant element is strong against void dragons and can do great damage with poison, and metal element can provide allies with protecting sword damaging enemies when they attack. This isn't best combination, as plant element skill shows its full potential in highly offensive teams, while metal synergiezes better with more defensive elements like earth and wind. There are only three elements that Envy can do strong attack to, which is usual number for tri-elemental dragons. There are quite a lot of dragons with more possibilities of strong attacks (like in example Bronze or Crystal), so in this matter, Envy isn't good pick as well. Another con of this element set is that all the Enchantment League Damage Boost potions Envy can benefit from:  have the same, uncommon, rarity. Uncommon potions aren't bad: 3x damage multiplier is good enough in most cases and as they aren't too rare, you shouldn't run out of them too quickly. However, being limited to just one rarity of Damage Boost potions, and only three elements that takes strong damage from Envy's attacks - those things does not make a good battle dragon. Envy is an epic dragon, so his stats aren't as good as legendary or divine dragons', but enchanting him is still pretty hard, so he wouldn't be good choice for new player either. 

Another usages of element combinations

Having three different elements, Envy probably will never be a dragon that you will use for regular breeding - outcome will be too much unpredictable. Three element dragons are usually parts of recommended combinations for Dragon of the Month breeding, but void have never been and most likely will never be element required for Dragon of the Month. Being limited-time only, Envy will also probably never be a parent for Dragon of the Week, so having him will hardly ever help you with breeding any dragon.

Adult Alien Dragon

Another situation when you could possibly need dragon with a certain set of three elements is when you need to level up some dragons to be able to upgrade your temples and you try to minimize the food needed. However, there are many tri-element dragons with plant, void or metal element, so Envy doesn't play any important role here, especially that he shares the element set with Alien Dragon, who is  and normally breedable. As you will probably try to breed Alien Dragon one day for your Codex, even if Envy's element set would help you with temples, having him wouldn't be such a big help. 

Gold generation

Envy can live in void habitat, which is the recommended option for him, as the void habitats are one of three best possible habitats for storing gold (after light and dark ones). Other options are plant or metal habitat, which I would say are OK - not very good, not very bad. Envy's base gold per hour is 575, which means 2015 gold per hour at level 10. This is quite a lot. Of course he can't compete with Stardust Dragon, but he is still worth a spot in a habitat when considering gold income, especially if you are lower level player.

Conclusion

Besides lovely design and quite good gold production, Envy Dragon doesn't have much to offer. Winning him from Farmic Fanatic event could be nice, especially that regardless to any event, gathering big amount of food is always a good thing. However, it doesn't seem to be worth changing your long-term plans about gems/gold, so if you got hard competition in your group, you may consider giving up. But even if you love this dragon for how pretty it is and you can't get it now, don't be sad. Envy was available in some events before and most likely will return to Dragonlandia one day - maybe as Dragon of the Week or castle event prize. Who knows?
